LensDex is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how LensDex handles information when you use our iOS application and keyboard extension.

Information Collection

LensDex does not collect, transmit, store, or share personal information on our servers.

All data you create in LensDex is stored locally on your device. When you are signed into iCloud, the same data is mirrored end-to-end via Apple’s CloudKit service so your Apple ID devices stay in sync automatically. LensDex never sees, intercepts, or processes that data on external servers.

What Data is Stored Locally

When you use LensDex, the following information stays on your device (and, when you are signed into iCloud, inside your private iCloud account):

• Custom search filters - Filter names and search queries you create
• Keyboard layouts - Layout configurations and key assignments
• App preferences - Theme selection and active layout choice
• Onboarding status - Whether you've completed the initial setup

This data remains on your device and is never uploaded, shared, or transmitted anywhere.

Data Storage Technology

LensDex uses Apple's standard technologies for local data storage:

• SwiftData - Apple's local database framework for storing your filters, layouts, and settings
• iOS App Groups - Allows the main app and keyboard extension to share data locally (no internet transmission)
• UserDefaults - For storing simple preferences like theme selection

All storage happens exclusively on your device, and when you are signed into iCloud the same encrypted data is mirrored through your private iCloud container so other devices signed into your Apple ID can stay in sync. LensDex itself never receives or stores this data.

Keyboard Extension Privacy

The LensDex keyboard extension is designed with your privacy as the top priority:

No Full Access Required

Unlike many keyboard apps, LensDex does NOT request "Full Access" permissions. This means:

• Your typing in other apps remains completely private
• The keyboard operates in a restricted, privacy-protected mode
• No data can leave your device through the keyboard

Third-Party Services

LensDex does not use third-party services. The only external system involved is Apple’s iCloud/CloudKit infrastructure, which is used automatically when you are signed into iCloud. Data sent to iCloud remains inside your Apple account and is encrypted and managed entirely by Apple; LensDex never stores or processes that data on our servers.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is stored on your device until you choose to delete it:

How to Delete Your Data

• Delete individual items - Remove specific filters or layouts within the app
• Reset all data - Use the "Delete All Data" option in Settings to remove everything
• Uninstall the app - Deleting LensDex from your device removes all associated data

There are no remote servers to delete data from, and no backups are created outside your device (unless you use iCloud device backups, which is controlled by your iOS settings, not LensDex). To delete your synced data, use Settings → Delete all data—this removes your LensDex data from iCloud and from the app’s local store so it will not be re-uploaded. To stop CloudKit mirroring, sign out of iCloud on your device; your local data then remains only on the device.

Children's Privacy

LensDex does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. Since the app does not collect any personal information (and CloudKit mirroring is managed entirely by Apple when you are signed into iCloud), it is safe for all ages. LensDex is a general-purpose utility for inserting complex search queries and assumes users can read and understand the search syntax they choose to save.

Your Rights and Control

You have complete control over your data:

• Access - All your data is viewable and editable within the LensDex app
• Modify - Edit or update any filters, layouts, or settings at any time
• Delete - Remove individual items or all data through the app's interface
• Export - While LensDex doesn't have an export feature, all data remains accessible on your device

International Users

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in:

• App features or functionality
• Legal requirements
• Privacy best practices

When we make changes, we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document
• Post the new policy at https://lensdex.app/#privacy
• If changes are significant, we may notify users through the app or website

Continued use of LensDex after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

App Store Privacy Details

LensDex has been configured in the App Store with the following privacy details:

• Data Not Collected - LensDex does not collect any data from users
• No Tracking - No data is used to track you across apps or websites
• No Third-Party Data - No data is shared with or sold to third parties
